Why try Red Light Therapy?

Why try Red Light Therapy?

There’s a kind of magic that happens when light meets the body — not just sunlight warming your skin, but a deeper, cellular communication. Red light therapy works with that light language of the body, reminding your cells how to repair, renew, and radiate.

What is Halotherapy, and why would I want to breath microscopic salt?

What is Halotherapy, and why would I want to breath microscopic salt?

Halotherapy (from the Greek halos, meaning “salt”) is a natural therapy that mimics the healing microclimate of salt caves. In a halotherapy booth, pure pharmaceutical-grade salt is gently ground into microscopic particles and released into the air. As you breathe, these particles travel deep into the respiratory system — cleansing, soothing, and supporting the body from the inside out.

How do Red Light Therapy and Halotherapy Work Together?

How do Red Light Therapy and Halotherapy Work Together?

Some elements simply belong together — like sunlight and sea air. Red light and salt therapy are much the same. Each has powerful effects on its own, but when combined, they create a layered experience of restoration that touches the body, mind, and spirit all at once.

Red Light and Halotherapy in Alberta

Alberta’s winters are long and dry — and lately, wildfire smoke has become a recurring challenge. Together, these extremes can leave our lungs heavy, our skin parched, and our energy low. The HaloRedO₂ at Material Moon Refuge brings balance back through a unique blend of halotherapy and red light therapy — helping you breathe deeper, recover faster, and feel lighter all year long.

Halo and Red Light Therapy as a Parenting Tool

The benefits of halotherapy are safe and supportive for children as well. Sessions can help with respiratory issues, allergies, and general immune health — and for little ones who struggle to slow down, it’s a gentle way to breathe and reset together. Parenting doesn’t leave many quiet spaces, but this one can. The HaloRedO₂ booth is a cocoon of calm — a place where the world gets quieter and your breath deepens.

The session inside of the booth is 15 minutes, but you have the room for 30 minutes to get comfortable in the booth and then reacquainted with the tangible at the end of the session. Please be on time so everyone has the time they need to settle into their appointment.
The booth is a 2 person booth and includes two chairs for the session. It is possible to have 1 adult and 2-3 children depending on size of the children.
Yes! It's all of it or either of it. Your 15-minute session is in one booth, and that booth has the ability to have red light therapy and salt therapy, (also known as halotherapy) at the same time. If you only want to try one though, you can also do just red light therapy or just salt therapy. The booth also has an oxygen concentrator which draws additional oxygen into the environment during your session and that can be turned on or off during the session at your preference. This is why it's called the HaloRedO2 😊.
I'm glad you asked. It's $44/session. You can get 2 sessions for $79 but the second session has to be used within 7 days of the first session. You can also get 10 sessions for $350 but you have to use them all within 35 days of the first session.

When you pay four the full $44 session. You also get a stamp card for the Refuge Rewards program. In this case, every 10th session is free. The multi session tokens cannot be used towards the rewards stamps cards.

Don't forget it's a two-person booth, so you can split the cost or maximize your value by bringing a friend or family member.
Book a session and talk to us when you arrive. Let us know that you would like to get a multi-session package and we'll charge you the appropriate amount upfront. You will be issued tokens for the number of sessions you purchased , they have an expiry.

If you have a token already, book normally. When you arrive to pay, give us the (not-expired) token as your payment.

Treat tokens like cash, if they are lost, they cannot be replaced.
Yes, the booth is child friendly with a couple of notes. Protective eye ware is recommended so no child who can't keep eyewear on should have a session in the booth. Adults can generally go into the booth once every 48 hours, it is recommended that children have a longer time between sessions.
No. This is not a replacement for regular medical care and we highly recommend that you communicate your medical needs and experiences with your primary health care provider. If you do not have a primary health care provider, please look up your primary care network within Alberta and find one that you can work with.
The red light is very bright. It's not damaging for your eyes to have direct exposure to the red light, but it is very bright and you might find it more comfortable to have eye protection on. Small goggles are available for you here or you can wear your own personal sunglasses if that is more comfortable for you.

There are only adult sized goggles at the shop currently, so if you are bringing a child, please consider bringing their sunglasses so the light isn't annoying for them.
